SHE LIVED HER DREAM, AND NOW
WANTS TO HELP YOU LIVE YOURS!

Having spent her first 32 years of life ‘living her dream’ as a recreational, collegiate and professional hockey player and Coach, Jaclyn has set up and operates WHL Profile so that you too can live your dream and follow others living theirs!

Hawkins U22 Team CanadaJaclyn Hawkins grew up in the minor hockey systems in Ottawa, Canada playing with the boys (Osgoode Rideau Senators, Ottawa Valley Titans) up until the age of 12, at which time she switched to girls hockey with the National Capital Competitive Program (NCCP).

At the age of 15, and with very mixed emotions, she moved away from her family and friends in Ottawa to Watertown, Connecticut in the USA to attend The Taft School, a private co-educational boarding school. There she captained the hockey and soccer teams and played for the Connecticut Polar Bears travel team, winning a National Championship in 2004.

Upon graduating from Taft, Jaclyn received a full scholarship to attend the University of Connecticut and play for the UConn Huskies.

Hawkins UConn PlayerAs a freshman at UConn, she was named Hockey East Rookie of the Year, U.S. College Hockey Online (USCHO) Rookie of the Year and was also chosen for the Hockey East All-Rookie Team, USCHO All-Rookie Team and the Hockey East Second Team. During that season, she also made the Canadian National Under-22 Development and Selection Camp where she competed internationally for two games, registering a goal and an assist.

In her next 3 years at UConn, she led the Huskies with 18 goals and 18 assists for 36 points, 12 goals and 15 assists for 27 points, and 14 goals and 27 assists for 41 points.

Hawkins Coach UCONNAs a Husky, she was honoured to serve as an alternate captain in her sophomore year and as captain in her junior and senior years. Her collegiate record of 69 goals and 75 assists for 144 points in 137 games leads the UConn program currently in career goals, assists and points. She was also honoured to receive Hockey East’s Sportsmanship Award in March 2008, earned the right to be on the New England Hockey Writers Division I Women’s All-Star Team, and participated in the 2008 Frozen Four Skills Challenge in Denver, Colorado.

For the 2008 – 2009 season, Jaclyn joined the UConn women’s ice hockey coaching staff for her first season as a collegiate coach. Moving from the ice to behind the bench after a successful four-year career, she helped the Huskies to a 19-12-4 overall record.

Hawkins SwitzerlandDuring the 2009 – 2010 season Jaclyn moved to Zurich, Switzerland where she played professionally for the ZSC Lions. In 18 games there, she led the team with 29 goals and 26 assists for 55 points and helped the Lions to their first ever Swiss Championship game.

Hawkins Boston Blades of the CWHLHaving been a member of the Boston Blades of the Canadian Women’s Hockey League from 2010-2013, Jaclyn continued her dream amongst Olympians and other talented female hockey players. After winning the Clarkson Cup in 2013, Jaclyn hung up the skates as a player and found herself back behind the bench at her alma mater as an assistant coach with the University of Connecticut Huskies until 2017. Currently she stays home to take care of the new additions to her family, her twins Justin and Julia, while running Women’s Hockey Life.

But more important than all the statistics detailed above, she has been lucky enough to live a Canadian girl’s dream – through hockey she has grown up playing and studying with people from around the world, received a world class education, traveled internationally and has actually been paid to play – a dream come true for Jaclyn!

And now through WHL Profile, the dream continues. She hopes it will contribute to your own dream!
